How the score works

Every headline from the RSS feeds is scored with VADER, a lexicon-based sentiment model: compound ≥ 0.05 counts as good, ≤ −0.05 as bad, anything between is neutral. We score headlines only — not article text — so sarcasm and context can fool it.

Good News Bad News is an experiment in measuring the mood of the news. Scores are automated and imperfect; we never edit or remove headlines.
